Die Schlüssel des Schlosses

2020 — ongoing

Die Schlüssel des Schlosses, a tongue-twister title meaning both the trivial ‘the keys to the lock’, as well as the more grandiose ‘the keys to the castle’, stages a perspective siege of an enclosed architecture — more precisely that of the institution in which the work is exhibited. The blueprints of the museum are shown, distorted and replicated through different media – sculpture, video animation and architecture – and employed to imagine and plan a way to break into the building and take control. But the generic pink coloring, the maimed models, the incomplete civil architecture that contains everything else and the almost psychedelic animated floor-plans lead one to think that the plan is precarious and incomplete. The work is made over every time it is shown, starting from the institution’s blueprints and architecture, leading with time to an accumulation of different incongruous siege plans.
